Briefings, workshops and webinars run by our practice teams in Kano and online — technical, free to attend, and always with open question time at the end.

How We Run Events

We have run technical briefings since 2018, initially as a way of answering the same client question more than once. The format has not changed much: a working engineer or practice lead presents for thirty to forty minutes on something they have recently built or fixed, and then takes questions for as long as people keep asking them. There is no product pitch, no partner sponsorship slot and no queue of vendors at the door.

Sessions run in three shapes. Webinars are online, sixty minutes, and recorded so that anyone who cannot attend live can request the recording afterwards. Workshops are half-day, hands-on and capped at twenty-four places so that everyone gets time at a keyboard. Breakfast briefings are ninety minutes in person, aimed at directors and permanent secretaries, and deliberately kept small enough for a real discussion around one table.

Attendance is free. Our reason for running them is straightforward: the questions people ask in the room tell us what the market is actually struggling with, and that shapes both our research programme and our service design. Several of our whitepapers began as a question from the floor that we could not answer well enough on the day.

No dates currently confirmed

This page previously listed a confirmed schedule of briefings and workshops with specific dates and venues. Those dates were not real and have been removed, because the one thing worse than an empty events page is somebody travelling to Abuja for a breakfast briefing that was never booked.

The series described below are the formats we run and intend to run. To be told when a date is actually set, write to [email protected] naming the series you are interested in, and we will contact you when there is a real date and venue rather than adding you to a general mailing list.

Our Recurring Series

Five programmes that run to a regular calendar. Each has its own audience and its own rhythm.

Brilliant Tech Forum

Annual • Kano • Full day

Our largest event of the year, bringing together roughly three hundred engineers, architects and IT managers for talks and hands-on tracks on building systems that survive Nigerian operating conditions. Held each October at the Kano headquarters.

Public Sector Digital Breakfast

Quarterly • Abuja • 90 minutes

A small, invitation-friendly table for permanent secretaries, directors and revenue chairmen. One case study, one honest account of what went wrong somewhere, and a chaired discussion. Led by Director of Public Sector Business.

Security Sunrise

Quarterly • Kano • 90 minutes

Our security team present what they have actually seen over the past quarter — attack patterns, phishing trends, incidents handled — under a strict no-attribution rule. Frank, technical and consistently oversubscribed.

Academy Open Day

Twice yearly • Kano • Half day

For anyone considering a cohort with the ICT Training Academy, and for employers who hire from it. Laboratory tours, pathway briefings, certification routes and a panel of recent trainees who will tell you honestly what the programme is like.

Developer Meet-Up Kano

Every two months • Kano • Evening

An informal evening for developers in and around Kano. Two short talks, usually one from our team and one from the wider community, then open discussion. Free, no registration fee, and open to anyone who writes code for a living or hopes to.

No attendance reports

Write-ups of past sessions, with delegate counts and headline findings, have been removed for the same reason as the schedule above: the events they described had not taken place. When a session has actually run we will publish what was discussed, including where the room disagreed with us.

How to Register

Registration is free for every event listed. Workshops and breakfast briefings have limited places, so early registration matters.

Choose your session

Pick the date and title from the upcoming events table above. Note the format — webinars are online and unlimited, workshops are capped at twenty-four places, and breakfast briefings at thirty. If two sessions clash, tell us and we will hold you a place at the later one.

Send your registration

Use the enquiry form at /contact selecting the events option, or write to the events mailbox at [email protected]. Give the event date and title, your name, organisation, role and a telephone number we can reach you on if plans change.

Wait for confirmation

You will receive confirmation within two working days. For online sessions the joining link arrives at the same time and again on the morning of the event. For in-person sessions we send the venue address, parking guidance and the running order.

Send your questions ahead if you like

Attendees who send a question in advance almost always get a better answer, because the presenter can prepare figures or a demonstration. Anonymous questions are welcome; say so and your name will not be read out in the room or on the call.

Attend, and take the follow-up material

Slides go out to every registered attendee afterwards, along with any referenced whitepaper. Webinars are recorded and the recording is available on request for ninety days. If you registered but could not attend, you still receive the material.

Event Questions

Is there a charge to attend?

No. Every event listed on this page is free, including the half-day workshops and the annual Tech Forum. We provide refreshments at in-person events. There is no charge because these sessions are how we learn what the market is struggling with; the value to us is the questions we get asked.

Are the sessions technical or commercial?

Technical, with the exception of the Public Sector Digital Breakfast, which is pitched at directors and permanent secretaries and stays at programme level. Workshops assume working knowledge — a hardening workshop expects you to know what a VLAN is. If you are unsure whether a session suits you, ask us before registering.

Will there be a sales pitch?

No. Presenters are delivery engineers and practice leads, not sales staff, and we do not put a commercial slide at the end. If you want to talk about engaging us, our people will happily do so afterwards, but nobody will initiate that conversation with you during the session.

Can I send colleagues instead of attending myself?

Yes, and you can substitute a colleague at any time up to the morning of the event. Just tell us the replacement’s name and email so that the joining link or the venue list is correct. For capped workshops we ask that you release the place if nobody can attend.

Are the webinars recorded?

Yes. Every webinar is recorded and the recording is made available on request to anyone who registered, for ninety days afterwards. Workshops and breakfast briefings are not recorded, because the discussion is more candid when people know it is not being captured.

Do you run events outside Kano?

Occasionally, where there is demand. We have run sessions in Kaduna, Katsina and Jos in the past two years. If a group of organisations in another state wants a briefing, write to us — if we can fill a room and cover travel, we will usually come.

Can our team attend a workshop as a group?

Up to four people from one organisation may attend a capped workshop, so that the places are spread reasonably. If you want to bring more than four, ask us about a private session instead — it is often a better use of everyone’s time and can be tailored to your own environment.

Host a Private Briefing for Your Organisation

Any of our public sessions can be run privately for a single organisation, at your premises or at our Kano offices. Private briefings are tailored — we will use your architecture, your regulatory position and your figures rather than generic examples, which makes the discussion considerably more useful for a management team or a board.

There is no charge for a standard ninety-minute briefing to an existing or prospective client. Half-day hands-on workshops delivered privately are quoted as consulting work.
